Firefox vs. Internet Explorer

Posted on July 23, 2010

Are you like me?  It seems like I have tried to avoid anything Microsoft for the longest time.  With the exception of Windows, I have found alternatives for nearly every Microsoft application.  So it's hard for me to admit, but recently I've noticed the software giant becoming a little more friendly, especially Internet Explorer.

As far as web browsers go, I have been a faithful fan of Mozilla Firefox, and I couldn't imagine using anything else.  With the release of Internet Explorer 8, I have found myself "cheating" on Firefox a little, and "stepping out" with IE8.

I'm sure there are technical considerations I have never realized, and some very good reasons to support one over the other.  But as an end user, I see the gap between the two closing.  While I continue to prefer Firefox, IE8 is certainly growing on me.  What about you?

Another cool, new, and free Microsoft application is Security Essentials.  It provides real-time protection for your home PC that guards against viruses, spyware, and other malicious software.

I don't know if these guys have actually started listening or, dare I say, caring about their users, but both Security Essentials and IE8 are huge steps in the right direction!
